Intern, R&D Analytical/Applications - TIC Gums

Summary: TIC Gums is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic college student to join the organization for a summer internship within our R&D Analytical and Applications teams. The Intern, R&D Analytical/Applications will support the progression of a well-defined research project that is critical for implementation of a new raw materials and projects. This internship is great multifaceted opportunity to understand R&D from testing raw materials all the way to creation of prototype formulations. The intern will have the opportunity to develop method alignment studies between raw materials and finished goods for different classes of gums (with focus on acacia and guar) and also between suppliers of the same material. This will include aligning the specification between the organic and nonorganic version, so if relabel is necessary it can be done with no additional testing. There will also be opportunity to develop R&D projects that are in the idea phase to feasibility by developing prototype formulations and testing different materials to determine effects.
As the Intern, R&D Analytical/Applications your responsibilities will include:
Perform lab/pilot plant experiments and conduct data analysis on raw materials and formulations; interpret results to make adjustments and recommendations.
Operate laboratory equipment safely and with little direct supervision to support project needs. May require modification of standard operating procedures.
Record data in the Lab Notebook and other archiving databases as appropriate. Effectively communicate results to project teams and stakeholders.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment. Follow guidelines set-out for good housekeeping, GMPs, and safety.
Work well with others in laboratory and pilot plant. Effectively communicate with colleagues, project teams and key stakeholders.
Present project status, updates, and outcomes to team and stakeholders.
At completion of internship period, present research findings to management with recommendations.

Qualified candidates will have:
Progress towards a Bachelor's degree in Food Science with focus in Culinology preferred
Minimum 3.0 GPA required
Availability to work full time (40 hours/week) between early June and mid-August 2018
Ability to work safely in a lab environment.
Knowledge about QA or Analytical is desirable
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical data/reports
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with statistical (Excel) knowledge is desirable
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must:
Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. TIC Gums does not intend to sponsor work visas with respect to this position or to provide this position as OPT or CPT.
Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor's Degree Program. If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
