Account Representative

Position Purpose
Cargill is a trusted salt supplier to a wide variety of industries. We make more than 1,000 different salt products and package sizes. In addition, we market national and regional brands, including Diamond Crystal? branded Foodservice and water softener salt products, Champions Choice? branded agricultural products for animal feeding, as well as Cargill? and Alberger? branded specialty salt products for food manufacturing customers.
The individual in this role will provide distinctive value to our customers through a comprehensive understanding of our offerings and how they can be best applied to meet our customers' needs. In this role, an individual must have a strong desire to develop and hone the basic skills required to be successful in current sales role. Typical skills and experience developed include value based selling, negotiations, relationship building, time/account/territory management skills, etc.

The candidate will be officed in the White Marsh, Maryland office.
Principal Accountabilities
45% - Achieve sales targets by managing assigned accounts.
The sales professional will spend time working closely with existing and prospective customers and developing new contacts to identify customer solutions and generate sales.
20% - Execute on personal development to improve sales skills and build deep product knowledge.
15% - Plan, organize and promote sales activities
That support both the assigned customer base and Cargill Salt's strategy as a whole. Although the company will provide sales training, the specific sales strategies to be employed in any particular instance will be left to the employee's discretion. Such strategies may include, for example, cold calling, prospecting, referrals, and attendance at trade shows and conferences. Other secondary duties include writing sales reports and planning itineraries.
10% - Create and maintain a business plan for your territory.
This includes understanding and communicating market information, creating and maintaining a pipeline of customers, meeting or exceeding enterprise targets, and proactively using the enterprise sales tool.
5% - Act as a cross-functional team lead/member on customer innovation/solution projects.
Employee must be able to develop and maintain excellent customer relationships, as he/she will often serve as the primary point of contact between the customer and Cargill.
5% - Support trade show activity and attend trade shows as appropriate.
Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of experience in sales in lieu of the degree
2 years of experience in sales
Must be able to travel, up to 20%
Strong collaboration skills, ability to work effectively within a process centered organization
Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
1 or more year of experience (MS Office - excel, PowerPoint, word, outlook)
Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills
Ability to work independently
A passion and dedication to serving customers in an enterprise team environment
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually
Preferred Qualifications:
SAP experience
Demonstrated negotiation and value based/consultative sales skills
Bilingual - English and Spanish

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
